Por un lado, no es un centro terapéutico, allí solo se va a crear, pero esto tiene un gran valor terapéutico pues llena de autoestima y permite desarrollar una destreza a gente como Judy, síndrome de Down y sorda, que de otra manera estaría destinada a ver el tiempo pasar sentada en una silla.

Es interesante también, como cada alumno desarrolla su propio estilo y evoluciona su obra. Increíble la historia de Donald Mitchel sobre como llega a este tipo de dibujos tan sencillos tras pasar por una complejidad enorme de formas y colores y que es narrado en el documental producido por Julio Medem ¿Que tienes debajo del sombrero? y que narra principalmente la historia de Juddy Scott.
El arte como mero cauce para la expresión y la diversión, despojado de los miles de euros que puede valer una obra de Judy le da aún más fuerza y sentido a sus obras. Sus esculturas transmiten, cosa que no puedo decir siempre de obras que he visto en galerías como el Tate de Londres.
Los colores, los giros, los nudos, lo orgánico de sus formas, la mezcla, el saber que en el interior de cada obra se encuentran escondidas sorpresas que Judy envolvió, el misterio, y esa forma de comunicación tan compleja y confusa pero a la vez tan directa y expresiva… hacen que no puedas parar de darle vueltas y preguntarte, Judy ¿Que tenías debajo del sombrero?

Judith Scott was an American artist who developed her work in Creative Growth. In this place, disabled people work in completely liberty. It’s interesting for two things to see what is happening there.

Creative Growth it’s not a therapeutically center, there people just go to create, but they spend valuable time there because increase their self-esteem, and allow people like Judy, Down syndrome and deaf to develop her skills.

It’s Interesting as well, how every student develop his own style and evolves his work. Art like a way just to express and fun, without thousands of dollars Judy sculptures could cost. Give her work, powerful and more sense. Her sculptures transmit feelings, one thing I can’t say from all Tate Modern art pieces in London.
Colors, twists, knots, organic shapes, mixing, to know inside every Judy’s sculpture are a lot of things involved by her, mystery, this hard communication, confused but at the same time direct and expressive… It cause you can’t stop to think and ask yourself, Judy, What did you have under your hat?
